PORTER BASEBALL FAMILY MOURNS
The Porter baseball family wishes to extend its condolen-ces to the families of Myron "Pete" Fulton age 70 who passed away July 28th and former long-time football coach Bill Zimmer who passed away at age 84 August 11th in Florida.
Pete was an all-state Porter 1B (62-63') and also in football (playing for Coach Zimmer) and basketball. Pete's family included former players brother Bruce (61'), nephew Tom (94') and grand nephew Collin (15'). Also, his niece Suzanne, Collin's mom, was a Booster Club board member.
Coach Zimmer was the father of former Porter baseball standout Mike Zimmer who is currently the head coach of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. A member of both the Illinois Coaches Football and Wrestling Hall of Fames, Coach Zimmer had tremendous influence over the lives of many LTHS athletes during his 34 year coaching career.
Recently, Porter junior 3B Gavin Lovesky has earned an opportunity to play in the National Team Identification Series to be held in August 21-23. The NTIS is held for invited players from around the country to earn a spot on the Team USA 18U National Team.
This is a tremendous opportunity for Gavin. The Porter baseball family all wish him the best of luck!
