Coach Starkey, LTHS class of ‘09, is in his second year as the Head Freshman Coach for the Porters. He joined the Porter Baseball family in Spring of 2017 as a Freshman Assistant. Coach Starkey also coaches football at LTHS, and just finished his 5th season this past Fall.
Following graduation from LTHS, Coach attended St. Ambrose University where he played football and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. He then went on to Lewis University to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education. Coach Starkey teaches in the Special Education department at Central campus.
Coach Starkey and his assistants are excited to develop their freshman players, showing them the ‘Porter Way’ as they begin their journey in Porter Baseball!
This is Coach Pro’s 3rd year coaching, and 2nd at Lockport after previously coaching at Andrew High School. He played college baseball at Saint Xavier University in Chicago, where he was named 3 times to the CCAC All-Academic Team, and was a NAIA Scholar Athlete.
While at Saint Xavier, he earned degrees in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, and currently teaches in the Mathematics Department at LTHS. In addition to baseball, Coach Pro is a dog trainer, and also coaches Golf at Lockport.
The Porters welcome back Jeff DuSchene to the Porter family. Jeff was a two-year varsity infielder for the Portersfrom 2012 to 2013. Jeff was the starting 2B for the 13' Porters that advanced to the Super-Sectional. He will be head Freshman White coach as well as working with all freshman infielders.
Following his graduation from LTHS, Jeff went on to continue his baseball career at Joliet Junior College. In his second year for JJC, he played SS for the Wolves that went to the 2015 NJCAA Division III World Series in North Carolina.
After leaving JJC Jeff became a union laborer for 4 years. He is currently attending JJC again and plans on furthering his education majoring in Physical Education with a minor in Special Education.
Outside of coaching and school, Jeff enjoys playing on several co-ed and men's softball teams, golfing and being with his family, friends and dogs.
The Porters welcome back Mike Hines to the Porter family. Mike was a two-year varsity infielder for the Porters (09'-10') and played under former Porter caoch Steve Stanicek.
After graduating from LTHS, Mike attended Lewis University and got his degree in Education. He is currently working in the mechanical contarcting business and will be going back to Lewis in the fall to begin work on his MBA.
He will be working with the Freshmen this season .
